Dr. Meredith Clark (@MeredithDClark) is an assistant professor in the Media Studies department at the University of Virginia. Her experience as a newspaper journalist influences her research, which focuses on the intersections of race, media, and power. She was named No. 66 on The Root 100, the news website’s list of the most influential African Americans in the country, in 2015. She was a founding contributor to Poynter.org’s diversity column, and her research has been published in Journalism & Mass Communication Educator, the Journal of Social Media in Society, and New Media & Society. Clark is a graduate of Florida A&M University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is currently the primary investigator for the American Society of News Editors’ annual newsroom diversity survey.
